Social Media
In the humanities and social sciences, the term social network refers to an arrangement of connections between individuals or organizations, forming a meaningful group such as family, colleagues, a group of friends, or a community. In the digital sense, social media are online platforms that allow users to share content, interact, and connect with other people or communities.

Social media are interactive digital platforms that allow users to create a personal or professional profile, share various types of content (texts, images, videos, links), and interact with other individuals or communities with shared interests. Now omnipresent in daily life, they facilitate instant communication, the expansion of social networks, and the rapid spread of information on a global scale. Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, LinkedIn, and Snapchat serve a variety of purposes, ranging from entertainment to professional promotion. They are used both for personal connections and for marketing, business, or professional networking goals. However, their use also raises several concerns, particularly regarding the protection of personal data and privacy. Misinformation spreads easily on these platforms, and excessive use can lead to digital addiction, with negative effects on mental health and real-life social relationships.
